C40-8 loco in game now!
New c40-8 fresh out of the shop. This was just a practice run, to get a nearly complete model in the game as a loco. which finally worked. my issue was poly count which i successfully clipped. It is RW3 ready, I put the spot lights in and looks good.
Basically needs some retouches on the body, the engine needs to be lowered onto the tracks( its a little too high)
The trucks need to pivot better
needs couplers
cab interior shell is getting reworked so all faces point in.
needs windows
finalizing the details
textures
finalizing blueprints to have input mappers, cab interior bp, controls, anims etc...Ian

Me gusta. Donationware, or freeware? Need sounds for it? I'd be willing to write scripting for it using my FDL recordings if its freeware. (that way you arent using the RSC D9 sounds)

not sur yet. most likely freeware with option to donate if you like the units. I would love for you to put sounds on this beast! Thats what i dont have otherwise dash9 it is. I'll be thinking about this long and hard in the meantime while i work more on it.

This is looking great! You're doing a very nice job so far and I'm eagerly awaiting the finished product.
I do have (1) min or suggestion, however, and that is you should think about rounding the corners and edges of the short hood. Take a look at DieselsWest C30-7's to see what I mean:
It makes the model look a lot more realistic, don't you think?

C30-7's are different style than a C40-8.
The C40-8 does in fact have the nose that style and not rounded as the C30-7's.

correct csx4878! thats one of the main differences betwen the c40-8 and c30-7. C30-7 is like 15 years older too with a smaller fuel tank. It has the rounded hood top and rounded cab roof too. the C40-8 has a square top cab and a well shaped square front nose. and its longer. the c36-7 body is higher than the roof of the cab than the dash-8 but the nose is the closer to the c30-7 still.

Sounds it is. I'll start work on scripting, and importing sounds into Railworks. Once you decide, it'll be a quick email. When you're working on it, consider making each railroads .bin have a different alias so I can have different xml files with different horns.

Actually, now that I see it, the Anticlimber should be more angular, versus the curve you have going right now.
Its shorter, atleast. Its more so comprised of 2 gentle angles from a rectangle to about a 4 foot wide flat face.
hopefully you understand what I mean.Comment

ok I will flatten it out, but it does have that grove on the NS units, its one solid pieceo on the other variations.

lights are in. just need wipers. and its done. I expect to have it out by the end of the week. Would like to see a beta tester or 2 send me a pm to test it. I need people with background in loco creation, scripting and other related areas. I alsp need a beta tester with a strong system, a weak system to test it out on. Lastly as mentioned before the cab will be the black sd40 cab.
